Give the Gift of Shabbat to Families in Need
Sponsoring guests with food on Shabbat is not just for the poor, but all community needs are considered blessed particularly on Shabbat!
These food package values are supported by volunteer hosts over Shabbat and Yom Tov, or other annual holy days such as significant yahrzeits.
Sponsorship can include preparation of food purchased for community events.
These sponsorships are processed through relationships with numerous synagogues and the leaders of communities who are known to adhere to kashrut standards, and who typically help host and support travellers visiting the cities around Israel. The families are considered poor and need the sponsorship to be able to provide the meals. They are typically not paid for their own time and effort after the sponsorship pays for the raw ingredients.
Generally food packages are given to less well off people other than at whole community event sponsorship.
Participating organisations include JLTV, AQM, YTD and Breslov as examples of many.
